For punching paper with 240gr JHC Sierra bullets, I have used 8.5-10 grains. I was just given a box of 30 Sierra 180gr JHC projectiles, but can't find any load data for the 700-X powder. Anyone have a good starting point I could use to load them up and get them off my bench?

I just recently began loading 44 mag. 700X is a fast powder for 44 magnum, I would think. I have used 700X for other calibers and dislike it because of poor metering.

    found some data here 429p_3_180.

I use it in .380, 9mm, .38/.357 and .45 ACP I'll look in a couple of my older reloading books for any .44 data.

Thanks guys. I don't know why I couldn't get Steve's Pages to pull up any data. It will get me through the last of the 180gr projectiles. I could see how metering could be poor with the 700-X. I reload the .44 Magnum by hand. Wouldn't think the Dillon would be too keen on it! :(

This above me is for a 240gr bullet. Not, your 180s

This below is data for 44 special 180gr LRNFP. Its the only load listed by hodgdon. Hodgdon has no data for 44mag and 180's (at least online)

    Hodgdon Powder 700-X
    Bullet Diameter .430"
    C.O.L. 1.400"
    Starting Load
    Grains 4.8
    Velocity (ft/s) 929
    Pressure 11,800 CUP
    Maximum Load
    Grains 5.4
    Velocity (ft/s) 1,013
    Pressure 13,500 CUP

From my experience, 700x in fast 44mag sucks accuracy wise. I'd keep them slow.

For 44 MAGNUM with Sierra 180 grain JHP forget 700 X
    Use 29 grains of H110.
You will love it just like I do.

Snipercop, 700 X meters fine through my Dillon 550. Very similar characteristics at Herco.

That's good to know. It didn't look like it would meter well at all. Generally, I load my .44s on an RCBS Rock Chucker since I don't load them in mass quantities. I use the Dillon for 9mm, .40, .45, and .223. Thank you for the info. I may have to start using it for 45 LC since a co-worker just bought a Gatling gun/canon! :ar15:

He's gonna be burnin' through that faster than I can produce it on a single stage.
