AR 15 Paint

I am interested in getting my AR painted, maybe a digital woodland type. I dont have the faith in my painting skill to paint my gun. Not sure who does AR painting. Any recommendations?

I really like the ACU Duracoat, if it was only more green than gray.

I understand he's no longer in the finish business, but he never did dip finishes, did he? I thought he was strictly Duracoat/Cerakote.

Dipping vs Duracoat? Whats the most durable. Please enlighten me.

Duracoat is a spray on finish (think HD Paint) Dipping puts a thin layer of vinyl on the piece then it's finished with 2 coats of automotive clear. There's a new dipper in Ft Wayne I saw at the Gun Show last week. His samples were High Quality.

I do cerakoting if that is what you are looking into. On an ar I would degrease heavily and spray over anodizing. Taking it off is a viable option but why take off a really really hard and durable finish.

Why would anyone want the ACU colors? Painting a rifle is to help it blend/break up the outline. If you want it to stand out in nature, just leave it black, much cheaper.

Me too. Took a couple of hours and it's retouchable

No way was I going to duracoat. Not afraid to scratch it up and if you do just paint it again.

Or let the scratches add to the camoflage effect.

Watch out for digital patterns when camoing your first gun. They get thick as ballz if you dont watch out
