Hello im kinda new to the Ar-15 world so sorry for the newbie vocab. I was out shooting my Rock River LAR9 yesterday and the trigger pull developed a catch in it....when i pull the trigger back and shoot the round it feels great but when i release my pull and move my finger foward the trigger catches mid stroke and when i let my finger compleatly off the trigger it will finally click back forward. The gun has had about 500 rounds put through it since new and the problem just developed. I field stripped it and checked everything out but nothing seems wrong. The gun is very clean and very lightly oiled with Colts lubricant. Hopefully someone can help me on this one. Thank you in advance for any help. Im ready to get back out and :ar15:

Is this a single stage trigger? I had what sounds to be the same issue on my RRA lower + RRA LPK. On the trigger reset, letting of the trigger would not imediately relase the hammer for the disconnector. a bump or wiggle would get it to snap from the disconnector and ready to fire again. I filed a tiny, tiny bit from the nose of the disconnector to correct this. With the upper off of the lower, you can run through the operation of the FCG by hand and see where it is hanging.

Search google for the installation instructions of the JP Ent. trigger. There is some information on 'timing the disconnector'.

The trigger on my new RRA 2 stage quit returning after a couple hundred rounds also. Researched the problem a bit and found it didn't sound uncommon with the 2 stage.

Called RRA, got a free ship tag, sent the lower and it was returned in a week and a half with a very sweet trigger. This took place in February '09, during the peak of the "buy now" mania, so RRA must have put the warranty repair at the top of the list. Great customer service.

    3000+ rnds. latter...still runs like a a champ.

@lon...i didnt have the luck with RRA that you did, i wasnt very impressed with their customer service. After talking to 3 different people the "tech guy" told me that this was nothing that they could fix and my best option was to take it to a gunsmith and have him do a "trigger job"...not sure what that means so ive got some google'ing to do
@redemption no i did not put this gun together i bought it from T&J Sporting Goods at the Indy 1500 couple months back...they told me that it was a brand new factory built gun...but i cant be sure cause it came in a cheap black plastic box with no paperwork but shows no signs that had ever been shot and has all RRA components

Not sure im ready to start filing on the gun myself so it looks like im lookin for a gunsmith to do a "trigger job"

My brother had a similar issue with a colt 9mm carbine. Turned out to be a primer from a reload fell out into the lower, it would jam up the trigger. Pull the hammer out and make sure there are no debris in the FCG.

my first question is do you have the correct trigger and hammer for the 9mm or is it the hammer and trigger that is supposed to be in the .223. If you have the correct trigger and hammer I would think that there is something wrong with the hammer or spring
