So, by DHS standards, a suitable self-defense weapon is:
    - a long gun
    - Chambered in .223/5.56 NATO
    - accepting 30 round magazines
    - is semi-automatic
    - and is FULL AUTO CAPABLE (select fire)

So, if that is appropriate for self-defense of civilians who HAPPEN to work for the government, why is in not suitable for civilians that work for someone else? Why does one's employer qualify or disqualify one from owning a particular personal defense weapon?

I feel like an idiot. I thought it was saying that it is suitable for civilian self-defense use.

The Supreme Court in 1939, in a decision that has not been overturned (Miller) and that is frequently cited to uphold gun control but in reality does no such thing, said that arms that have militia use are protected by the Second Amendment.

In the Heller case in 2008, the Court said that arms in "common use" are protected for personal defense, even with no relation to miltia usefulness.

What is more common than an AR-15 with a 30 round magazine?
