I dont think it is, not completely. It seems odd to me that these elected officials talk about keeping our children safe and apperantly the only way it to ban combat styled weapons. How many thousands of children are killed by handguns compared to "assault" rifles?

And that's the problem. You could take away every single gun owned by the people who go about gun ownership legally and it wouldn't make one bit of difference.

The criminal element will always have illegal weapons. Until these boneheaded politicos realize that and find a way to keep the BG's from getting them, they'll be pissing in the wind and down our backs.

    Grab your umbrella.

"Gun control" is about punishing those slack-jawed cousin humpers who will not do as we say. We want Europe where everything is illegal unless it is permitted and the smart set sits around in cafes.

I really think it has little to do with safety. Liberals have a parent/child mentality between the govt and the people. The govt thinks it needs to keep its children safe by limiting what they can do to only what the government thinks they need to do. The liberal people look to the government as a child looks to its parent. They look for protection and a safety net. They are fine with being submissive to the government in exchange for the promise of safety, healthcare, welfare and whatever else an elected official will promise them to get them elected.

On one hand, you have people that crave power over the populace and on the other, people that are willing to yield power if it means they don't have to be responsible for providing for themselves. But, in the midst of this emotionally stunted paradise, you have these pesky conservative/libertarian types that want to think for themselves. They go and accept responsibility for stuff like their income, dwellings and safety. They say 'No thank you' to government handouts and really screw up the liberal paradise fantasy. The biggest symbol of this acceptance of responsibility is a firearm.

The firearm is the symbol of a culture that rejects irresponsibility and entitlements. It represents everything that the liberal mindset hates. To liberal politicians, it represents a people that cannot be pushed around. It means that politicians must actually serve the people instead of simply using them. To the liberal citizen, the firearm represents everything they are not. It represents the fact that we are responsible for our own safety. Liberals don't like guns because it makes them look bad in any comparison. It reminds them of their cowardice and lack of a moral compass.

Gun control has nothing to do with safety. It is solely an attack on the symbol of a free people.

All about control IMO, same way with healthcare, same way with education, same way with anything to do with government the more they have their hands in things the more control they have..... Less Guns/more Safety is a bs claim, more kids were killed on bicycles last year than shot by a gun, I have yet to see an Anti-bike Campaign. More people Killed in auto accidents than murdered, yet to see and anti-vehicle Campaign.
