Idiots aren't limited to the US.

Here is a taxi driver in Korea, that refused to let an ambulance go to the ER after a fender bender.

I just laughed at her pronunciation: "In America, there's moove over law..." :):

And that's tame compared to drivers in Russia.

I against machines enforcing the law.

This is Australia, but I can imagine someone here thinking this is a good idea.

BREAKING: L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti announces he is authorizing the city to shut off water and power to any houses or businesses that are hosting any parties or unauthorized large gatherings. It will begin Friday night, and LAPD will respond, then contact DWP to cut it off

    That seems illegal.

Might be able to make a case for it that you plan to hold an event in that timeframe and request an injunction?
But then you have to argue that you're planning to do something that's forbidden, so uh...
Guess you could try to argue that you have a gathering that is legal but you fear it will wrongfully be shut down under this order?
Anyway i'm hoping once all this **** dies down we get a bunch of judicial rulings about these abuses of power that strengthen the rights of the people, but i really kind of fear they're going to go the wrong way

Shutting off water for house parties? Kid 'n Play are not amused.

    https://www.wane.com/news/los-angel...to-combat-house-parties-and-other-gatherings/

After reading the article, what they say seems a bit more reasonable. This isn't a birthday party of little Katie, these are ersatz nightclubs in what is probably unused AirBnB.
    https://ktla.com/news/local-news/1-...se-party-police-were-called-to-hours-earlier/

It sounds like the city knows a regular party is occurring at a house, they don't want to go in and raid it, so if they come during the day and shut off the utilities, they can effectively "Fix the glitch" and let it work itself out.

When people didn't pay their bills in Detroit, the Dems got the UN to declare that a "human rights violation".
    Now they're okay with it.

I did not see any evidence presented that makes the argument that these house parties have led to the spread of COVID, yet that didn't stop Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer, from referring to them as "super spreader parties."

Feuer said he hopes the charges filed Friday will deter others from hosting large gatherings that could potentially spread the coronavirus to partygoers and their families.

“These super spreader parties cannot prevent us from making progress,” he said.

A lack of evidence in the article doesn't mean that there isn't evidence of these parties spreading COVID, but I tend fo think if there was such evidence, the City Attorney would have cited it.

I should be surprised that there such a thing as recognized "Tik Tok stars," but, sadly, I'm not.

And, to MCgrease's observation, this isn't about public health. Instead, I'm seeing some modern Puritanism. Mencken summed it up:

“Puritanism: The haunting fear that someone, somewhere, may be happy.”

I never thought of Democrats as Puritans before. Their overlords are obviously exempt.

How they strike me, how I perceive them, is a modern version of puritanism, with a faith-based moral superiority, one they wish to impose on all the rest of us.

However, instead of traditionalist Christian Puritan values, their faith is of a secular sort. However, it is no less a faith than any strongly devout Christian, Jew, or Muslim might hold. They are true believers in their basically socialist statist elitism. They "know" so much more than the common bumpkin, and wish to inflict and enforce their woke "knowledge" on all us benighted lower folk.

And yes, what we would consider as traditional Puritan values, piety, (extreme) self-discipline, etc, do not apply to the modern version and their adherents. They have a new replacement for any version of God, based on their own intensely-held beliefs.
