Have you ever performed any of your simple tasks in front of an international audience? What "simple" task have you done or do you regularly do that you would say is comparable to singing the National Anthem at the World Series?

Serious questions, not being a jerk.

Twice in my career and I practiced obsessively. The "international" audience was not televised, it was an international team of whom I was honored to be part. I took it seriously. It was simple, but I got it right. My only complaint - and that's why it's a peeve - is this is an honor and it's supposed to be taken seriously and it never is. Aaron is no different than the thousands that do it daily for ball games from little league on up. It's so commonplace now that the meaning has been totally lost. I wish it wasn't performed at sporting events. The story isn't taught any more, the meaning is lost and it's just as plain as blue jeans and flip-flops.

Such is the makings of pet peeves...they're little things that stick in our necks because they tend to represent much bigger issues. No, misquoting a poem is no big deal. But completely losing our identity, who we are as a nation, what makes the United States different, forgetting our family, friends and neighbors who died to make it happen...re-writing the constitution because it's no longer convenient for some political agenda...I sound like my dad, but getting the national anthem right is a pet peeve for those reasons. It may be irrational to you, but its one of those small things that seems much bigger to me.

I agree, but I give him a pass because, according to his personal testimony, portrayed in his most popular song (at least the song that made him familiar to me), he believes the words and lives them. He just screwed up singing them. At least he didn't do a Rosanne Barr.

I know. And in my heart I love the guy, he's just caught up in my irrational emotion right now. He probably feels just terrible, I know he does.

Rosasnne on the other hand....or Ozzie (I'll stop right there).

Aaron Lewis was also the lead singer of Staind. Awesome band and that is how he made his fortune. He could still be out singing to sold out stadiums making millions. That is what part of the song "Country Boy" is about.
i love his music and got nothing but respect for the guy. This was a mistake that I believe he truly feels horrible for making.

The guy made a mistake, but let's take the torches and pitchforks elsewhere... You'll find no witch here.

When you can prove he intentionally sang it incorrectly I'm with ya - Burn Him!

if it's a mistake, no matter how hard he practiced it would not have prevented it. If you don't hit the Bulls eye all the time, every time, perhaps carrying a weapon is something you should leave to the professionals.

im on your side, JerimiahJohnson, this song means the world to me. There is no higher honor than for me to stand at attention and salute the flag during the national anthem. I've done it in the pouring rain and never felt a drop. I want it performed traditionally in the same notes, key, time, tempo as it was intended anything short of that is a disappointment.

however if we cant forgive an honest mistake, perhaps no one will be willing to sing it and it will fade away because the risk outweighs the reward.

    A NOTE FROM AARON

All I can say is I'm sorry and ask for the Nation's forgiveness. My nerves got the best of me and I am completely torn up about what happened. America is the greatest country in the world. The Star-Spangled Banner means so much to so many, including myself. I hope everyone can understand the intensity of the situation and my true intent of this performance. I hope that the Nation, Major League Baseball and the many fans of our national pastime can forgive me.

I didn't hear it, I didn't watch it, but tell me it didn't suck as much as Carlos Santana and his kid playing it the game before.
