    Hello,

Art deserves a standing ovation. Some movies are Art. Now clapping during the film = noise and possible ruining of the film. Clapping after the film is respectful for instance I went to a prescreening of all the LOTR films. Everyone clapped and cheered because they were the best movies ever :rockwoot: however I am a big LOTR nut.

    Thanks,
    Matthew

The unfortunate part is that that douchebag director tore out the soul of Tolkein's LOTR and replaced it with trash. Costumes, cinematography, etc were great, but the new storyline and theme were garbage. :twocents:

Edit: Oh and I thoroughly enjoyed Atlas Shrugged. I saw it with my roommate who's not read the book, nor is he into politics at all. He said it was really good.

We took a van full of teens on opening night. Among them, a couple budding libertarians, a self proclaimed socialist, and a ditz.
When I asked them each what they got out of the movie, the socialist said "if people would have just worked their jobs, that engine business would still be up and running and probably would have phased out the railway anyway.
The libertarians(ish) argued that it wasn't the right of the government to set pay scales and had the factory kept going, they would have turned out crap when workers stopped giving a darn because there was no incentive to do any better.
The ditz said, "There was a guy in a hat. I think he's killing people. I think he made the oil guy blow himself up."

My wife and I saw it today and thought it was pretty good. My wife hasn't read the book or doesn't follow economics and politics. Talking with her afterwards, she understood what the message was.

Pretty much a big DITTO with my family. 4 of us drove up to Chicago to see the movie. I was the only one who had read the book. My wife does follow some economic issues and is pretty politically aware. Everyone got the basic message and said the movie was better than expected.

I have a longstanding "no movies in theaters" rule for seeing movies.

Eating with your mouth open and driving slow in the fast lane, I swear, those are moral justifications for deadly force, if not legal justification.

No reason to move over for law breakers.:yesway:

    Tailgaters are scum criminals.

Actually if people drive slow in the left lane and there is faster traffic behind them then the slow driver is guilty of "failure to yield right of way" and can be ticketed for not moving over.

Tailgaters are wrong, but so are slow drivers in the fast lane. Idiots who choose to selectively enforce laws by breaking other laws should be relegated to driving a Prius in the snow.

My son, my wife, and I went to see "Atlas Shrugged" this evening. At the 7:00 PM showing, we were the only people in the theater.
It's a real shame. Most of the people who need to see this, won't.
The movie itself was well acted, had good dialog, good character development, and a plot. It was short on nudity, foul language, car chases, and explosions.
Since thinking is out of vogue, they may not make enough money to produce Part 2.
    More's the pity.

OMG that is some funny stuff!

Loved the book, loved the movie (part-1) and just don't get why so many people have pre-judged based on ????

I will definitely see the other parts, but must admit when I have DVD's of all three in my hand it hopefully will be best to sit through the whole thing.

Last I checked it did like 1.7 million opening weekend, which was actually better than expected since it ran on less than 300 screens. Supposedly it did so well that they'll play it at more theaters shortly.

Awesome. I keep telling everyone to see it and to read the book. Several people have told me they would see it if it didn't take an hour to drive there. I was thinking an hour wasn't too bad to see a movie like this and support a conservative voice, but that's just me.

Not if the fast lane driver is doing the speed limit. No traffic law reads that you have to yield to law breakers.

I had some mergers run into the barrels in NYC thursday. The 1 foot in front of me wasn't room enough for their cars. :D

Saw it the day it came out. Liked it, but you can tell it was done on a limited budget and very short schedule. I read that they were casting the actors a day or two before the shoot. It helps if you have read the book. I took my 18 year old son and he liked even though he did not read the book. But he is studying econ in school and he picked up on the storyline quickly.
