My grand am (04) would do this on occasion.
Shortly after it started doing that is when I traded it in.

If it has the 3400v6, keep an eye on the LIM gasket.

What is it doing? Start then stall? Stall at a stop? Give us a few more details.
starts and runs fine till highway speed and then just stalls out. wait 5 min. and it will run again for about 5 miles then again. i have just changed the fuel filter and still the same thing. it seems to me that some thing under the hood is getting hot andstalling it out. sorta like vapor lock?

BIG :+1:. My Sister had a Grand Am and it had that gasket go out. IIRC, the coolant would just about leak out faster than you could put it in. She got it fixed and traded it in. I'm thinking hers was a '99 but I do know it had the 3400.

I would get that checked out OP. Wouldn't want to cause any more damage to the engine.

My former Alero also had the 3400. No stalling issues. It ran like a top, actually...just very very wimpy.

By the time it was totaled, it was developing the LIM gasket issue as well.
