Rick Santorum can hardly go a day without advocating Federal bans on things that he doesn't like. He has absolutely no grasp about the proper role of the Federal Government and has ZERO respect for personal freedoms. Everything he doesn't like should be heavily regulated or banned. Hell, even things he admits that he likes (in this case, gambling) should be regulated and federally restricted.

He is considered a model "social conservative". He does a good job of showing how his ideology is incompatible with liberty.

    His bumper stickers should read:
"Freedom is Not Absolute - Santorum 2012"

Don't you think by this comment he is referring to restrictions like the first amendment doesn't mean you can yell "Fire!" in a crowded theatre? Or that freedom of religion doesn't mean you can perform human sacrifices even if you're an Aztec?

Isn't it a shame that the moral character of this country has degraded to such a sorry state, people feel they have to turn to legislation to try to reverse the slide towards the ole septic tank....

"What rights in the constitution are absolute?" - Direct quote from santorum in this clip.

This guy is just as dangerous, if not more so, than obama.

At least obama is working an angle, santorum is just plain nuts.

    Santorum: The Anti-Libertarian

“I fight very strongly against libertarian influence within the Republican Party and the conservative movement.” -- Rick Santorum

    Santorum . . . Just Go Away.
I am not a libertarian, and I fight very strongly against libertarian influence within the Republican Party and the conservative movement. I don’t think the libertarians have it right when it comes to what the Constitution is all about. I don’t think they have it right as to what our history is, and we are not a group of people who believe in no government.”

"Government needs to be BIG if people don't order their lives correctly."

Ayatollah Santorum says that since rights come from your creator, "pursuit of happiness" necessarily means only doing things that please your creator. Straying from this idea means that Government should force you to re-order your life.

    A theocracy.

"I’m a very strong supporter of the 10th amendment…but the idea that the only things that the states are prevented from doing are only things specifically established in the Constitution is wrong.

Our country is based on a moral enterprise. Gay marriage is wrong. As Abraham Lincoln said, states do not have the right to do wrong. And so there are folks, here who said states can do this and I won’t get involved in that.

I will get involved in that because the states, as a president I will get involved because the states don’t have a right to undermine the basic fundamental values that hold this country together. America is an ideal. It’s not just a constitution, it is an ideal. It’s a set of morals and principles that were established in that declaration, and states don’t have the right, just like they didn’t have the right to do slavery."

    -Rick Santorum

I think Rick is the best of what's left and even he feels obligated to use the Federal goverment to impose his morality on others.

America(as we know it) is nothing more than the constitution. Don't like it then change it.

Somebody once said that everything that comes before the word "but" is a lie. They were right.

Rick Santorum should point to the amendment that gives him the power to ban pornography, ban online gambling, ban gay marriage, etc.

Why? You wouldn't agree with him, even if he did.
