Best ammo for 22

I recently bought a Walther p22 and a Ruger 10/22, just wondering what the best ammo is for these guns?

I am trying to buy whatever I can because it is hard to find. I have read reviews and know these guns can be sensitive and some ammo works better than others. I am finding most people prefer the cci for these guns. Thanks

This.^^^ Purchasing .22 ammo at this time is a hit or miss thing. Have to be out and about and hope to see any type of .22 on the shelf.

You can still get the ammo just have to pay a high price. I paid $140 for 2000 rounds of the m22 ammo.

I'm afraid this is going to sound ignorant, but can anyone tell me why .22 LR is so hard to find now? And so expensive?

The 10/22 should eat anything right out of the box. I have heard the P22's can be finicky and prefer CCI until they are broken in.

Because people have been hoarding and reselling since shortly after Sandyhook happened.

Each gun is different. My 10/22 shoots best with CCI'S. My buddy's 10/22 shoots its best group's with Remington Golden Bullets. Just have to get as many different brands and see which works best.

As for now, shoot whatever you can get.

I have picked up a couple bulk packs of Remington golden bullets, they seem much better than ones I bought a few years ago. They shot well in my 10/22 & M&P pistol.
No duds after several hundred rounds, a couple of flyers but not bad for the price when Cabelas (online) has them.

After all the replies, I have been trying to buy different types of ammo and try in my two guns. Thanks for the advice.

In todays world, buy whatever 22 ammo you can find and then buy a rifle that will shoot it. Easier that way!!!

just got home from the range with my 10/22 that I restocked and scoped over the winter. Zeroed it with Remington golden bullets, then wanted to see if I could tighten up grouping with "better" ammo. Ran 30 rounds of Federal game shok, let's just say.....my rifle likes the Remington better.
