    Look at Sig Sauers

As a combat vet : take a look at Sig Sauers, especially P226 (9mm or .40). It is one of the best balanced, durable, and accurate handguns ever made. Pricey although you can find good deals. Also the Sig P229 is great.

As an example I also have an older SigPro 2340 (.357/.40) which is polymer and steel both. But you would never know it's not all metal the balance and the recoil is so good even with .40 being a much snappier round.

Berettas are good but very large and heavy.

    Best all metal 9mm handgun

What a no brainer! S&W 5906! Follwed by Sig Sauer P228 , If we want to start talking steel frame vs. aluminum frame, we could go on all night.
