    Hello everyone,

Just bought a Ruger MPR, was wondering who makes the best MAG for AR 556.

I want to get a few before they start banning them, price is not a deal breaker.

I agree with your list, I would also add hexmag.. and just the general note that the steel mags will give you a little more flexibility in oal.. talking to magpul I asked when they were going to make a grendel mag and they said never due to the oal restrainst of the thicker polymer.

5☆ - Lancer - best in quality, not in price
4☆ - Magpul, D&H alum&poly, Hexmags, Thril - best in quality for the price
3☆ - Ok, Surefeed, USGI - ok, not the best but not the worst
Others - wouldn't bother wasting time or $

Owv but this is my :twocents:

This list is great, but I'd also add D&H.

Personally, I've been running pmags long enough that the feed lips are starting to open up a bit and I find myself going back to simple aluminum mags again.

I have a bunch of everything but if just starting out with at least 24:

►dozen OK Industries the new dimpled Surefeeds, black, gray, CT, whatever

►dozen PMags, I have a bunch of Gen II as they were cheap.

Recently I also added THRiL magazines (same engineer as the Lancer mag). They have been outstanding. I think you will like these too.

I have EPMs and Magpul GenIIIs in case I stumble across M855A1 in the future. Who knows, but they work with M193 that I normally use, or M855 or even that funky 69 grain stuff from Gorilla that I use in the A4s.

I have 20 round mags for variety and because I am old.

Oodles of CProducts, Duramags (new ones), and even a case of Brownell mags that a buddy and I purchased years ago.

I was actually thinking of getting some of the new stainless duramags because I had some of the old c-products stainless mags that were great. I can't seem to find the duramags in stainless currently.

Teddy, Four Guns in Lafayette just had a bunch of Duramags in red. They work really well. Impressed by the new effort that Duramag is bringing.

Okay mags with Magpul followers or Gen II Magpuls are inexpensive and reliable. I agree with Kirk that 12 of each, is a good baseline to start with. I also recommend several 20 round mags. Stack em deep while they are still cheap.

I will echo the 20rd mags. I have the Magpul, they just feel more balanced to me in 11.5” pistol and 16” rifle.

I have actually given thought to selling my 30rd pmags for 20’s.

I've been ordering a variety from Lanbo's armory, All of the above mentioned. Pmags Gen II and Gen III, some windowed. Duramags in all kinds of colors, 20 rounders, Okay Industries Surefeeds, even found some 40 rounders of PMag to have. Trying to stack 'em deeeep.

My go to mags are: Pmag, Okay Surefeed, D&H, and I also have several Hexmags and MFT mags. All have performed flawlessly for me throughout the years.

For 5.56 it's ALMOST hard to get a bad one, some definitely better than others but if your looking at other cals in AR15 platform like 6.5 grendel, 6mm ARC, 7.62X39 then the pickings get slim.. pretty much C prod is one of the few.
