Number 4 has just graduated his AA program (electrician like 2 of his brothers) and is to turn 21 later this year.

"Get me anyting": #1 got a SA TPR 1911
    "I want a revolver": #2 got 2 Smith revolvers, 19 and a 17
"Make it random, Uncle Kirk": #3 (I rolled dinner dice) got tricked out Ruger 22/45, mags and couple of cases of .22

I asked him and gave him categories, he responded "service pistol". Have "narrowed" it to maybe one of the new SIG 1911s, a SIG P6/226/228, a SIG 17/18 surplus (not COTS 320), a Beretta M9, Glock 19X?

Am I missing anything? What seems right for Gen Z? Roll dice again?

Not exactly duty gun, but .. kinda close and what I'm currently drooling over.

If he wants a full size polymer, I'm liking my Springfield Armory Echelon. Could get it reasonably priced and add an optic.

Whatever you get, seems optic ready would be the move.

Sig P228 (not an M11A1, but an actual honest to goodness folded-slide and separate breech-block P228). It's a classic, collectible, and carry-able. The P226 is great, too, but the P228 is more practical.

It also has legit service pistol pedigree while still being something special. Everybody has an M9/92FS. Not everybody has an M11/P228!

I’m pretty sure you’re my uncle I never met!

Since your nephew picked the service gun category, is he interested in carrying it or concealed carry? If so, a compact would probably serve him better than a full size.

Is this gift to be something wanted for the now, or an item with which to grow fond over time?
Would think a classic to fit the latter catagory.
Who knows what kids want these days LOL
