Hey, anyone got an opinion on good bolt-action .22 LR rifles that would be good plinkers? not looking to spend a lot, here's whats i'm looking for:

    -.22LR
    -bolt-action
-magazine-fed (not necessary, but it'd be nice)
    -wood stock
    -scope mount

    any advice is welcome!

I have a Marlin 9 something. It's tube fed, bolt action, holds a bunch, smooth, accurate, had it for years. I put a cheaper Tasco scope on it and it eats any, and I mean any .22 ammo you feed it. I don't even know if they make it anymore but I paid around $130 new I think. I have had it since 1997 though. Great gun. :yesway:

Remington Model 5. Or a CZ. Or a Marlin. Or a Savage, Or a Winchester. Or a.....You name it. There is very little difference in cost between any of these bolt guns. Pick whatever one you like.

You probably don't think this is very helpful...Sorry, But all that I listed meet your criteria.

I really like the M77/22. It uses 10/22 mags, 10/22 barrel, and a 10/22 mag release. I took the barrel off and had it threaded for my suppressor. I have killed dozens of critters with it, and tons of shells through it.

I have to agree with the CZ votes. I've shot several CZ 22s and they've all been better than their prices. Good rifles. Accurate rifles. I used my 452 in IR50/50 competition with a Tasco scope and won a few.

The CZ452 or the Savage Mk II would be where I'd look if I were in the market.

I've owned a 452 in the past. They're fantastically accurate rifles. And the triggers can be adjusted down VERY light to make accurate target work seem almost boring. Several different factory configurations / barrel profiles. (Mine was a Varmint)

A Savage with the adjustable accutrigger is also a very good platform. These can be had in various stock & barrel profiles, too.

The CZ452 is now an "old" style rifle from them as their new 455 interchangeable barrel system is for sale. I believe that you can now get a rifle system in .22LR, then buy other barrels for .22Mag, and .17HMR. Not entirely familiar with what all is offered.

Depends on what you wish to spend. I've seen the new Marlin XT 22 with adjustable trigger selling for $166.99 NIB and the basic Savage MKll will run around $200 or a bit less. Both are box magazine fed guns and extra mags will run $12-17 or so for each. The Marlin ships with a 7rd mag and Savage with a 10 . Marlin makes a tube fed version of their rifle in stainless with synthetic stock that sells for under $220 for a new gun.The tube feeder will feed shorts, longs and long rifles.

Ive got a mossberg plinkster bolt action. Its mag fed, but me an the GF(mostly her since she claimed it,lol) shoot that thing probably as much as anything else I have. An belive it or not it very accurate. I dont have a scope on it but at 40 yrds no problem taking out pop cans with it, Just wish I had a few more mags for it

Savage are really good if you want to get a combo package with scope. Sort of a good turn key type.

If you have optics already or want to pick out your own the CZ 452 would be my choice.

Bolt action 22 LR aren't the hardest firearm to engineer so you'll be happy with any of the major brands.

I purchased CZ 452 Scouts for all five of my nephews.

I was so impressed by the rifle that I bought one for myself.

In the CZ line, the boys can "grow" into larger calibers. I have also purchased other CZs for my nephews, highly recommened (this is a 527):

Not only are the CZ's accurate, they're beautifully made rifles with extremely nice triggers and rich bluing. Shooting buddy has the 452 Ultra-Lux and it is just an absurdly nice rifle.

That being said, my Mark II can shoot just as accurately.
