I am considering purchasing a brass framed 1851 confederate navy .44 pietta, does anyone have any experience with one of these? The $140 price from cabellas is tempting me.
Not an expert,but the brass frame is reputed to be a bit weaker than the steel,the companies that sell the replacement cylinders for modern ammo specify "not for brass frames". The Remington[w/top strap] is sturdier than the colt design-They're all fun,though!
