I thought I would share my experience at Buckshot Guns in Anderson. I stopped in there yesterday and purchased my first Glock (G19), awesome gun btw. As their website says, very small shop just starting out. The first thing I noticed was that I was acknowledged as soon as I walked in even though he was assisting another customer on the phone. When he pulled out the g19 to show me he dropped the mag, pulled back the slide and checked the chamber to make sure it was clear. I told him it would be my first Glock and he offered to go over it with me. He never tried to push me into a sale or onto another gun. He was very informative and knowledgeable. The entire visit was less than 20 minutes and he threw in a free box of ammo since I made the drive to see him. Overall a very good experience and I will be returning to get night sights installed at a later date. I might have to take him a sugar cream pie from Wicks since he mentioned them. I believe his name is Mark.

Good to see gun stores that don't throw guns at you without checking them, all while reaching for your back pocket with their other hand.

If I lived closer, I'd check him out. :)

Sounds like a great guy and a good shop! My latest gun purchase happened at the second shop I went too because the first shop didn't acknowledge my presence in the 30 minutes I was in there. (and no, they weren't busy)

Hope you like the new gun :draw:

Weird that the only two gun shops in Anderson IN are buck shot guns and crack shot guns. Well there is allen's pawn shop.

Is that in the building accross from the parimount theater? I used to live in downtown Anderson. I bet the rent is easy on the wallet.

Yeah, it is right beside the Parimount Theater. I had never been in that specific area but followed the easy directions on the website. Sorry, I forgot to post that.

Those hours of operation listed on Gunbroker are incorrect. He is open from 3-6 on Monday and Tuesday, Saturdays is correct at 9-4 but he is currently doing gun shows so he said to call for weekend availability. His name is Mark Cole and he was at the last Muncie show, not sure if he will be at this next one.

I happen to like old Anderson. It's a shame what industry does when it leaves, but I like that town.

If he's open saturday, I'll let him know I've heard good things about his store (here).

A guy that has good sense on how to let things sell themselves is good in my book.

I guess I'll throw in my 2cents here. I know Mark and hes a good guy. I just seems that my schedule never allows me to stop up at the shop. I hope all goes well with the business, he definitely knows his stuff.

Bought a scope from him at the 1500 and told him I wasn't sure if it would fit my dad's gun and he said I could bring it back in if there was a problem. Called several times no reply, finally I found his shop and every time I went it was closed. Now I have a scope that I can't use because we can't mount it. Havn't been back.

Did you try contacting him in the 13 (or less) hours a week that the shop is open?

Sounds to me like the guy might be straddling the line between a serious enthusiast and a dealer. Hope I can make it up during his limited hours sometime, but overall just glad to see another guy in the game in my old hometown.

Somebody was talking about CrackShot's prices....I imagine that money talks, and holding up cash might lubricate a deal. This shop is one of the best I have ever seen, and the customer service beats the pants off of anyone within 50 miles or more. The owner showed me friendship, respect, and graciousness from the first day I darkened his door for a few boxes of .22 at age 18 and never once has the welcoming vibe wavered. They have a large selection and nice variety for such limited sq. ft, and anyone passing by on should patronize the joint because it is everything a local gun shop should be.

I feel very fortunate to live in a state with so many great gun shops. Competition among gun shops seem to be pretty high, but then there is a huge customer base here. I wish Buckshot Guns the best.

 I'm a native of Madison Co, moved 6 years ago along with the remaining industry...I heard they demolished a bunch of old buildings this winter in the down town area, closed the Wigwam and Guide Lamp along with most of the Delco shops are green space now. It's a different place every time I go back there. If I am there during buckshots biz hours I will have to try and stop. At least they have a horse track and casino. Do they still have Hoosier Girls?:):

You hit on some of my biggest gripes with gun shops. Being ignored because you don't spend all your time in the shop and having the guy sling around the gun. Was in one shop last weekend with my 6 year old girl and the DA behind the counter kept pointing the gun towards her. Not intentionlly or with bad intent but none the less I was not comfortable with his techinque. I did always have great luck at Crackshot as well. The owner always seemed very willing to help out. thanks for the report.

I have had a few close friends deal with him and they all had great experiences. I plan on dealing with him on my next gun purchase.
