Thinking of adding a wheelgun to my meager collection of a 9mm & a .22LR rifle.

Other than Rossi or the EAA Windacator what other .357s are out there around $350 to $400. At least a 4 inch barrel not into the snubbies. Don't care if it is blued or stainless.

For $400, you should be able to find a used GP100 in good/VG condition. I have a little more than that into the stainless 4" half-lug I picked up a few months back.

Well, you didn't specify new or used, blued or stainless, etc.

I think you can also pick up a new Taurus 4" .357 for under $400, blued.

Taurus Model 65, 4 inch blued. Not the best, but very good "budget revolver" I've had one for probably 15 years or more. Never a problem. Like my GP100 better, but still a very good gun.

go here and look for the "blemished" guns.
You'd be surprised what you'll find, for a really reasonable price, and most of the time the "blemishes" are very hard to find. They also carry the factory warranties.

This place also has used guns for sale, and even a "make us an offer" option.

A good used Ruger SP101 is probably your best bet and right in that price range.
If you need to stay on the lower end of the scale, go with a Taurus.
I have a stainless 6" Taurus 357 and it's never failed to impress.

I'll second looking around for a deal on a Ruger GP-100.

Last I looked, Applied Ballistics had some police trade in Stainless S&W .357's for that kind of money. Not safe queens, but good solid shooters. My friend picked up a .38 spl heavy barrel, and it shoots great.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the suggestions so far in this thread. I have a little experience with Ruger and Taurus .357s; nothing but good experiences on my end.

Personally, I've always liked the GP-100. I'm sure I'll own one some day... ;)

Me, I'd rather have a Taurus revolver than a Rossi.

And I'd NOT have a Windicator.

If you hunt enough, you may be able to find a used GP100 in your budget. I'd take one of those over a Taurus any day. Can probably even find a good used S&W for $400 given the right circumstances.

Chances are better that the $400 Taurus will be in a lot better shape than the Ruger, and the Ruger in better shape than the S&W.

The Windicator is the Jiminez of the revolver world. Run away screaming!
