My buddy bought a Sig 229r in 40 sw several years ago brand new, fired maybe 50 rounds.

He wants something new and offered it to me at $600

    Sig 229R 40 SW, nitron finish, SA/DA

Buy it or no? I know nothing of Sigs except they are EXPENSIVE

I've got one.....I love Sigs.......if it is in good shape and with original box, paperwork, etc 600 would be good....without I think you could find one less.....I paid 400 for mine, which was a steal....but I'd say without anything in average shape you'd be in the 450-550....

Where are you finding Sig 229R's for 450-550 used?

I just searched gunbroker and only 1 used came up for $650

you used advanced search and typed in a price didnt you :nono:....lol just go to the category for what you're looking for and type in the model....too much information in a very simple search engine design will restrict what it returns to you (too much info confuses it, keep it simple in searching).....just kinda have to know how it processes your input...but anyhow, you'll have a couple more pages to look through but it's worth it to save $100 isn't it :D I have a collection of Sig's, Glocks, kahrs, etc and I have yet to pay over $400 for a used pistol patience saves $$$ ...happy shopping:D

you could message these guys and ask what their reserve is...I've been surprised by some guys' reserve before Sig Suaer P229 Elite; 40 cal : Semi Auto Pistols at GunBroker.com

Sig Sauer P229 40 S&W Red Box. : Semi Auto Pistols at GunBroker.com

for the R, $600 doesn't seem too bad, you can find them online in that range so if you asked him to take a little less it wouldn't hurt to make it worth your while....personally, I'm not a huge fan of the rail on that particular gun but if it's what you prefer go for it

Colt- Summit had a LE trade-ins for $465. but are currently out of stock.

Firearms, Guns, Rifles. Grain Valley, Missouri.

I paid $475 last fall for a non-railed. It had been to Sig for the SRT kit and came with 3 mags.

Less than $500 229's are out there.
    Just my .02...
