Buying used gift cards

Does anyone on here buy used gift cards? I found a gun at Dick's I want and I was thinking of buying discounted cards and saving them up. My fear is that when I'm ready to buy that they won't work or the funds will be gone. I'm just curious if any of you have bought them before?

On a scale of 1-10 my trust factor on such an endeavor is about 0.02. I even question the value of the few I have purchased directly. Buyer be ware!

When you call it will show the balance as what ever they tell you, as soon as you pay and drive away someone orders something using the card so you are out the money.

I have bought some from a couple of the online companies that specialize in buying and selling unwanted giftcards. No issues in my experience if purchasing from somewhere reputable. Can get some decent discounts depending on which store the gift card is for.

Never have or will. But if your not going to use them right away i wouldnt buy them. Or like someone else mentioned if its reputable place then yes.

Simplify. Saving money is great, but at what risk and at what cost in time?

Just save up and when you have the cash, buy.

I dunno about Dicks but Cabelas frequently has 15% off sales on their cards. If you sub to MrGunsngear on FB...well he lets people know about stuff like that.

Thanks for the tip Spear Dane. After a little research, Cardpool offers a 100 day balance guarantee so I may do that and immediately go to the store to make a purchase.
