Hey INGO, decided fr sure to start the ball going to get my C&R FFL, so I got some C&R questions for you.

    1. How do you keep the records in the records book? (And yes I know your book is not provided with the C&R, I'll be getting mine from Brownell's next week)
    2. What is the direct link to download the form?
    3. What are some of your favorite C&R dealers? I'm thinking I'll do business with AIM surplus and J&G sales, but I'd like to hear your recommendations.

I'm looking forward to getting my C&R, I love surplus rifles and the prices as well as having the firearms shipped right to my door is going to be awesome.. I'm new to this and I definitely don't want to mess up, any other advice would be great.

I believe you have to have your FFL on file to log in and see prices on the website, but they send a brochure/catalog every month or two.

    Salty Possum,

Good job going for the C&R. It is great!

Both AIM & J&G sales are good.

    SOG is good as well.

If you are looking for specifics I would try Empirearms.com. Denny does a great job and is very reasonably priced.

On a personal note I would NOT have the package delivered to your door. I am not Mr. Paranoia BUT having long boxes arriving for the neighbors to see along with the occasional ammo crate could draw unnecessary attention. I have had several ammo crates sent and on occasion they are completely exposed, just an address sticker on the outside of the crate.

Just call UPS and have them hold it for you at the depot. All you do then is walk in w/ some ID and walk out with the precious cargo.

For just C&R stuff go to Gunboards.com. They are really into the military surplus area.

    Good luck!

    Regards,

    Doug

Hey INGO, decided fr sure to start the ball going to get my C&R FFL, so I got some C&R questions for you.
First do a search for "FFL03" here at INGO. Searching for "C&R" is broken.

    1. How do you keep the records in the records book? (And yes I know your book is not provided with the C&R, I'll be getting mine from Brownell's next week)
I bought a copy of NM Collector, not the most friendly software, but it fits the bill. I keep all my firearms logged in that software and then print out copies of just the C&R acquisitions and dispositions, three hole punch them and put it into a binder.

    2. What is the direct link to download the form?
I think someone else posted this.

    3. What are some of your favorite C&R dealers? I'm thinking I'll do business with AIM surplus and J&G sales, but I'd like to hear your recommendations.
I'll add Widener's and Classic Arms the to list.

Double and triple check the form. It suck when it gets sent back because you forgot something. :(

    MAKE COPIES FIRST!!!

Put the original, unsigned license in you binder, sign the copies.
Scan in a signed copy so you can email it out. Carry a signed copy in your wallet for "special occasions" :wwub:.

True. You can't order without logging in, which requires a FFL01 or FFL03. Just a note, you can still order firearms of any type and have non C&R firearms sent to a FFL01 dealer for transfer.

Also, their prices are listed as "cash prices". If you use a credit card (and who doesn't?) you'll pay 3%(?) more.

    Just two?

    Beginner.

nope, just either not loaded with cash, or TRYING to limit myself. (I usually have extras out in the truck...)

I use this place for my bound book, that can custom imprint the front cover.
Gun Log Books - FFL Log Books - ATF Bound Books

I've got one of the spiral bound books for my C&R ATF book, and one of the hardback leather books with places for photo for record of my personal collection, so not only do I have serial number recorded, but also photographic proof, and image of the weapon in question in case of theft or fire, etc.

Thinking about making a similar Excel spreadsheet that includes photo, to e-mail offsite or store on a flash drive somewhere else.
