When we bought our first house in 2000, I signed up for cable TV and Internet from Comcast. Typically, they bungled it and only scheduled a TV install. After a couple calls and a missed appointment, the modem was installed and did not work. A few more calls and I finally was connected to a lady who informed me of the need to provision the modem with the correct office. She asked my location and the conversation went along these lines:

    Comcast: Where are you located?

    Me: My full address

    Comcast: What is that near?

Me: It's just west of a *nearby well-traveled road*

Comcast: But what is that near?

Me: ?? West of Meridian Street

Comcast: But what is that near?

Me: ?!?! It not near anything, it's a big street that runs through the whole city!

Comcast: But what is it near?

    Me: Indianapolis

    Comcast: What is THAT near?

Me: Not much, it's right in the center of Indiana

Comcast: Well, what is that near?

Me: WTF? Take your pick! KY, OH, IL....

Comcast: Oh! IL, why didn't you say so?
