We'll still be here when everyone else around has starved to death! During the flood we were one of the few with a generator, fuel, water, food, etc. Certainly in the immediate area, based on the neighbors' actions, one of the few with any brains. Many of them were certain they'd be airlifted or something to safety by the gov't (yeah right!).

    survive 72 hours?

Recently we got a chance to practice surviving 72 hours with no power and no way to get out of our neighborhood due to Columbus flooding. Luckily we had extra food and water stored up for an emergency. It was hard for my wife but my kids thought it was neat they just played like they were pioneers (funny how kids are). I did learn that I need to have a little more water and food and hygene products than I had stored away.
