Anyone know if you're allowed to carry into a gun show?
I would assume so, but there are signs at the entrance to the ones I've been to that say no loaded guns PERIOD.

Not sure about 'every' gun show, and you can usually find the gun show or promoter website to garner that information.

I personally don't attend gun shows that prohibit lawful carry by law-abiding citizens. It's hypocritical on the part of the gun show, and find no reason to support or encourage that prohibition. Their 'excuses' (and the attendees who 'justify' those excuses) are the same excuses presented by the far-left, rabid, anti-gun loons.

I reject those excuses from the anti-gun loons, so not about to 'accept' them from those who profess to, and demand, the 2A.

If there is a sign, the answer is no. The Indy Gun & Knife Show is a NO. I've seen an idiot drop his loaded gun outside the front adjusting his coat and get escorted away. I've seen another get caught in the show by an officer, refuse to leave, and led out with an officer on each arm.

It's generally up to the organizer of the show to set the rules.

At the Indy 1500 they ask visitors to unload.

At the NRA convention this year they encouraged carry. It really just depends on the venue.

You can't carry in there if there is a sign. Well, you can but you have to unload it and they put a zip tie through the action. I actually don't mind this rule since it's a gun show and everyone is there to look at guns and some careless person is bound to show off what he is carrying and accidentally pop off a round, which makes all gun owners look stupid and irresponsible and causes the anti gun nazis to take action towards getting cities to ban them in their town. Thousands of gun shows with no incidents and zero news. A gun goes off 1 time at one of them and it's all over the news and all of a sudden we need to "have a conversation" about the safety of these gun shows.

You are allowed to carry. You are ASKED to not carry loaded. Whether you choose to unload and carry unloaded or refuse to unload and are denied entry are entirely up to you.

Agree with everything you said. Plus all it takes is an ND or two and even if no one is injured the building owners become hesitant to rent the building for a gun show. I'm sure all the ND's at the 1500 have cost the promoter in terms of higher rent and insurance.

Thank you all for the replies!
I now know you can carry anywhere that state law allows, but if asked to leave the property you must or it's considered trespassing.
so as long as it's unseen everything is all good. :shady:

I never go to a mall or a gunshow unarmed. :twocents:

I carry in the mall. At gun shows I unload and get the zip tie just in case I see something I might want to trade for or if I decide to sell. I'd have to pull it out in those cases.

If I need something for my carry it in and have it zip tied.
And I carry a back up concealed.

The act of unloading a firearm is in itself the problem. I'd rather a no firearms sign than a no loaded firearms sign, at least those that comply aren't man handling loaded un-holstered firearms in public. Leave it in its holster, it likes it there, I promise.

I've been going to the gun shows at the fairgrounds for about 20 years and you've never been allowed to carry a loaded weapon inside. And lying about it is very stupid, there is a reason they have cops at the door zip tieing guns and not the ticket takers. If you attemp to decieve cops about having a loaded gun you'll be in deep **** anyways. Carrying a gun into a mall or let's say a Wal-Mart against a posted sign or knowingly against the property owners wishes can be more serious than just being asked the leave, it could be condsidered criminal trespassing. Remember all of these places are private property owned by a company that can make their own rules.

No, no you won't. You'll simply be asked to leave.

Also false. Show me one example of this.

Ummm, no it can't be criminal tresspass.
If I say you can't say the word "the" at my house/business, and you do, i can not have you arrested.
You can be asked to leave. Refusal to leave becomes tresspass. Showing up after being asked to leave becomes tresspass.

Maybe. Depends on how the sign is phrased.

Have never seen it. Doing what I do since '95.

Definitely interested if anyone has a cause number!
