Pretty sure that it was not an act of desparation on her part (reportedly engaged to be married). My guess it was the result of what hormones will do to people in their teens and early 20's. Sometimes people literally are blint with lust.

I knew a couple. One guy was pulled out of class for a "conference" and came back with this stupid goofy look on his face. Even then it didn't take much imagination. Never had such disciplinary problems myself. Oh well.
