Looks like the kid was threatening the officer to me, seems to be within the officers rights. Guy in the video even says he threatened the officer.

I'm going to guess that kid has a new respect for law enforcement.

I liked the comments from the people in the background. Kinda like the comments that will be on here.

Some people mad at the cop.
Some people said "that's what you get for being a smart-ass"

I think the policeman may be in a bit of trouble.
On the other hand, I can see myself doing the same thing.
That's probably 1 reason I won't try to be an officer.

Kid was dumb and drunk. Cop was obviously doing this for pleasure (see him smiling the entire time). If a guy who is a foot taller, over 150lbs heavier, and is trained can not subdue a drunk 145lb kid without a choke slam across a street, then he may want to rethink his position with the department.
All that said, I don't blame the cop at all. Kid was making me want to choke slam him through my screen.

I see alot of problems with this, What happened to 1st, 5th and 8th amendments?

The individual in question has a right to free speech and assembly, due process and cruel and unusual punishment? Last i checked choking someone was not taught at law enforcement acadamies,

Not sure if the guy in the light green shirt was an undercover or not, but kudos to him for keeping the crowd off the cops back and helping to keep the situation from escalating even further.

The kid needed to be under control, but choking him seemed a little overboard from what I saw. With the size difference, a shove/palm strike to either shoulder would have spun the kid around enough to get him by the arm from behind and under control. I've had drunks threaten to kick my butt or try to get in my face many times, I've not had to choke any of them over it. Kid probably should have listened to the female who appeared to be pulling him away though.

The kid got what he had coming although sometimes it may not be legal to give someone what they have coming.
Does the Chicago PD have weight and physical fitness standards? Maybe some chunky cops are good to have when they need to throw their weight around.
