I listen to WLS 890AM in the office and the feckless Jody Weis was on a news report.

The Superintendent of Chicago Police Department, Jody Weis, just said that murders committed inside buildings should not be counted in the Chicago murder rate as those are murders that CPD cannot be expected to stop. Only murders that transpire outdoors should count.

I cannot stop laughing and I heard that 5 minutes ago.

I cannot believe that Chicagoans tolerate this Keystone Kop wannabe. I am so relieved that I left Chicago in 1995.:D

This could be a mere technicality but, how do they, or how would they, count a murder that takes place indoors, but then the victim is moved outdoors?

Or, what if the victim is inside, but shot by someone from the outside.

This is quite philosophical along the lines of "if a tree falls in the forest...." or "If a man says something in the middle of a forest, and there is no women around to hear him, is he still wrong?" or "If someone is shot in a Chicago high-rise and the cops are nowhere to be found, was a crime really committed???"

....how much does this job pay ....and how many brain cells are required??? :dunno:

Reminds me of that thread we were on this morning, massaging the data to lower the crime rate. Heck, if they just eliminated the police force, then the murder rate would drop to zero since there would be no one to take the reports. It makes perfect sense and they would all be safe.

The current contract is 300K a year.

Three brain cells are required, unfortunately for Jody, he has two.

Are the police expected to stop any murders? I'd think that would be too much to ask of a police force

dross, remember, this is Chicago. The police are all people have there.

Daley maintains his stranglehold on power by convincing the people to keep voting for him in return for their submission and loyalty.

So if I kill someone inside a building in Chicago will I not be charged since it happened inside and not outside of a building? Because if they can not be expected to prevent them how can they police them?

Exactly my point. It's like Katrina. The real tragedy wasn't the so-called slow federal response. The real tragedy was that all those people believed that the set of clowns they elected to their city government would actually take care of them like they said they would.

... as those are murders that CPD cannot be expected to stop.
If the implication here is that CPD can stop murders from happening, I'd be interested in learning about their precrime methodology.

I'd be happy to settle with some statistics on the number of outdoor murders they stopped over the last year.

Chalk up an "outdoor" murder -- y'know, the kind that counts. Off-duty Chicago cop, just back from his second tour in Iraq, son of a retired Chicago cop, murdered in front of the house his granddad built and where he and his dad grew up, courtesy of four [STRIKE]thugs[/STRIKE] misunderstood youths who wanted his damned motorcycle: Off-duty Chicago police officer killed in robbery attempt - Chicago Breaking News

And note that Mayor Daley uses the story as an opportunity to promote the same gun control laws the disarmed the honest Chicago citizenry, and allowed animals like these to become so emboldened. My blood boils.

    From article:

About 12:30 a.m., a woman screaming "That[strike]'s[/strike] used to be my baby, that[strike]'s[/strike] used to be my baby" was escorted to a police car. Police said she was the mother of one of the suspects.

Fixed it for her. You want to keep your baby teach him to be a man not a thug.
