Very concerning. I've received letters from the VA (to me as a VA patient, not a VA employee) offering free gun locks. Needless to say these letters ended up in the trash.

Heck, I would've told them to send all they want. You can always hang them on a shepherd's hook at 100-200yds and shoot them for target practice

How does the VA know who owns guns? I've never been asked about guns. Is it something that is only asked when a person reaches a certain age?

A friend of mine lives out there now. Imagine my surprise when I saw him on TV. (Okay not surprised, that is who he is) he has spoken highly of the area since moving there. Freedom loving Americans.

that letter offering free gun locks almost sounds like an attempt to get an idea HOW many gun locks you MIGHT need.

I'm thinking no response is best answer.

When I go for my psych eval every year the psychiatrist ask me if I have any firearms in the house. The first time I answered yes, now I tell them that they are all sold.

I will remember this. My psychologist never asked me, but if he does I will certainly provide an appropriate answer.

Standard medical question anymore. I just filled out some online stuff for a doctor's appointment later this week (NOT VA) Among the many questions in the "social history" section were:

Are there any guns in the home?
Do you regularly use your seatbelt?
    Do you regularly use sunscreen?
Are there smoke alarms in the home?

I left the entire section blank.
