    So why did the price of Colt M16's skyrocket in the past two years? I saw the prices start to go up two years ago, and before the latest school shooting CT causing the surge or buying frenzy.

    For a real transferable Colt M16, the prices are pushing $30K for an A1 or A2 model.

    Because people are paying the asking prices. No sense in selling something for $20k if there's someone out there that'll give you $27-30k. It sucks, if I could only have one gun it'd be an M16, but its just never gonna happen.

    And to think I passed on a brand spanking new transferable Colt M16A1 10 years ago for 1500.00 and the seller was willing to pay the 200.00 tax stamp!! I have kicked myself for that so many times.

    :eek::faint: Mother of pearl!

    Yea tell me about it. I even had the extra money at the time. I recall thinking it would be to much of a hassle to buy. Yea I am a dumb a--. A geeky co worker at the time purchased that gun. I am betting he still has it and has no idea of it's value. He is not a gun guy.

    Don't feel alone........When I bought my AOW the dealer told me he could put me into an excellent Colt 16A1 for $1250.00. Just didn't have the extra cash. And a friend offered to trade me his select fire AKM under folder even up for my Para FAL and pay the tranfer tax.
    But............Who knew???

    30K for a factory Colt M16A1 is top dollar, I believe most are selling closer to the the 20-25K range but who knows. My prices may be a month out of date. For 30K, I'd would have to think about whether I should may be not sell mine.

    The price increase in HK sears and Uzi is percentage wise even higher than for M16 from 2009 to now. So, prices for M16 I don't think are completely out of order.

    I have a M16A1 carbine for sale for $22,000. They have gone up in the last two years, but not as much as other MG's. I would guess M11/9's (Which I also have for sale) have gone up 30% to 40% in the last year.
