Just had a question that I was hoping someone could assist me with. I have only been a handgun owner, but was looking to purchase my first semi-auto rifle. I was looking at the Colt M4 .22, but I wanted to clear something up first. I have read that with a lot of AR-15s, you can buy a .22lr conversion kit, however I was wondering if there was a conversion for the colt m4 .22lr back to a .223?

Also any general reviews that people have on the colt M4, or if they would suggest another decently priced AR-15 for a starter, I would greatly appreciate it!

IMHO ... and we sell alot of them the S&W M&P 15-22 if you want a dedicated 22AR. If you want a 223/5.56 then thats a whole nother ball of wax. Yes you can get a conversion for the AR15 223/5.56-22cal but not the other way around.

well i may look into getting a .223/5.56 then. because i was mostly wanting the .22 for plinking/range because the ammo is so much cheaper. the colt m4 was just so nice because it was really cheap for a starter....although if i cant shoot the .223 out of it...it doesnt look as good anymore

Only thing I've heard about the Colt 22lr is not to expect Colt quality, because you won't get it. I'd buy a real Colt, or other variety and then the conversion. More versatility. But be warned, those black guns multiply!

I have the colt m4 22lr and love it. I had to make a few adjustments after watching videos on colts web site with a problem i was haveing with it. But now that i have it adjusted its really fun to shoot and easy on the wallet.
