I'm working on another big purchase, so I have decided to let go of my original Colt Model 1878 Double Action .45 Colt (Long Colt) that was made in 1891 with a 5 3/4" barrel. It is in fair condition and functions fine. The cylinder locks up tight when the trigger is pulled. Both grips have a piece missing at the bottom. One thing I found really interesting about it is that the front sight was replaced at one point with an Indian Head penny. The bore is dark but has visible rifling with some pitting. I have fired it with black powder handloads, and it did fine and had decent accuracy. I'm asking $1100 or best offer. I would rather not ship this one, but I will if you pay shipping and insurance. It is an antique, so it can ship directly to you without an FFL. Overall it is a nice example of a rather hard to find Colt. I am located in Jeffersonville. I might consider trades for milsurps.
