    Hit Gunbroker for the best estimate after you check the condition. Your number comes up as 1905 manufacture in 38 S&W, not 38 Special. Assuming it's in good shape, and 4" I'm going to guess $300-350. Check barrel length for sure, it looks like a 4 inch, but everything back then that was shorter than 4" would have come from the custom shop and have substantially higher value.

    It is a 4" barrel and the serial number says it's a 1939 manufacture. The barrel is marked

    I have a chance to buy this pistol from a relative who's father died.
    What's the estimate on it's value. I want to give her a fair deal.
    It's at least in 80% condition. Date according to the serial # is 1939.

    A great utilitarian revolver from the "good ol' days". I have it's '37 vintage sibling. These were advertised as being able to handle the old .38/45 loads after a certain year, when they changed the heat treatment of the material. I think that was (around) 1932.
