I ran across this and tried it out.
It is as accurate as my Cammenga 27 lensatic compass. Free and no ads.

A buddy has the iPhone app. We were able to find my property stakes with it. Half a mile back in the brush. We we only off a couple feet.

I've got that one. Actually I had forgotten I had it, but it does seem pretty nice. In addition to longitude and latitude it also gives your elevation above sea level, and sunrise and sunset times.

I have used Digital Compass by KTW apps for a few years on my android phone.

Rarely use Apple app but if I need really accurate information it is a great tool. Always carry a paper map and not fully trusting battery devices I keep a button compass on my hat. Usually the button compass is enough to orient myself and being on my hat I can take my hat off and look at it away from any metal objects. Also set my direction of travel when arriving at camp so when I leave in the morning I go the right direction.

Pretty sure it was listed above. Lat and lon. If you have good signal it worked well. I don't have it on my phone.
We used a metal detector to find the pins but we're less than five feet away.

okay i thoight he used a different app to find your property pins
so sorry i was confused

For Android, I really like GPS Status.

Nothing beats a good lensatic compass, but who carries one on them all day like a cellphone?
I was thinking this would be handy if you needed one in an emergency.
