Continuous Emergency Alert System Tests

Has anyone else noticed the increased amount of Emergency Alert Tests on Comcast? Normally the tests are conducted on Wednesdays but I have seen them through out the day over the past two weeks.

There was one Monday and another this afternoon. Last Thursday night there was a test at 11 p.m. if I recall correctly?

A Comcast Tech was out today to work on my cable and he also mentioned the amount of tests taking place lately and did not know why?

I am not a conspiracy theorist type but am definitely puzzled at why all the tests are being conducted?

I am also a Severe Weather Spotter and have not seen any information distributed about extra tests of EAS.

Comcast is probably just now getting around to doing their EAS-CAP install and testing. (Common Alerting Protocol - the new XML based standard.)

The deadline for full implementation keeps getting pushed back. Currently, I think it is June 12, 2012. We finished it at my place last Fall.
