    One thing is for sure.

This country is living in waaaaay too much fear of "terror."

Americans are taught to curl up in the fetal position and give away all their rights.

    Its getting pretty pathetic.

I am guessing she finally realized she has a useless degree and didn't inherent her grandfathers' talent so she has to get her name in the news somehow.

It's hard to understand why anyone would be afraid of people who attack us.

Chance of dying in a car accident: 1 in 19,000
Chance of dying in building fire: 1 in 99,000
Chance of drowning in bathtub: 1 in 800,000
Chance of struck by lightning: 1 in 5,500,000
Chance of being killed by a terrorist: 1 in 20,000,000

In other words, in the last five years you were four times more likely to be struck by lightning than killed by a terrorist.

Rats, using those odds, with just over 300 million people in the USA, that means 15 people are going to die at the hands of a terrorist this year!

What is the monetary cost difference between 10 years of lightning strikes vs. stealing 4 plane and flying 3 of them into buildings?

    Far less than guns.

I'm not ready to give up my rights over it.

There seems to be a definite parallel between being expected to give up our guns in the name of stopping crime (conveniently forgetting that criminals, by definition, do not follow the law) and expecting us to give up our rights to most everything in the name of fighting terrorism (again, demanding that those who are not participating give up rights in the name of stopping those who don't care what the law may be). Take this in combination with the soft attitude toward both criminals and terrorists, including but not limited to calling the Ft. Hood massacre 'workplace violence'.

I would say that there is too lackadaisical an attitude toward genuine terrorists and way too much enthusiasm for using invisible terrorist/bogeymen to scare people into cheering for the team as they are stripped of most all rights we have/had.

Umm, we can fight terrorism, and keep guns.
And if you look at your chances of getting killed by terrorist just by those numbers, what about the cost of not fighting.
After all, I'm probably not going to get killed going to work tonight. So if I sell my guns, and the gov't gets rid of the police, I'll save money. And the police won't be violating my rights.

Or, I could keep my guns, and the police. And fight terrorism and crooks, and occasionally stop the gov't from infringing on my rights.

The best way to dismantle the "aura of fear" around a radical muslim terrorist is with a .308 head shot.

Since the whole purpose of using terror tactics is to cause fear and pressure your target into doing something you want, the idea of "making the terrorist human" just doesn't play well for me. A "terrorist" isn't a soldier fighting other soldiers; a terrorist is a person who deliberately targets the innocent and/or defenseless for his attacks.
