Midway USA has a DPMS A3 Flattop Upper Assembly 556 16" 1-9 twist for sale today for $350 (regular $499). Seems like a super good deal. I have been thinking about building a tactical-ish AR for a while, but figured I would buy a RRA Upper. Any thoughts?

Probably would add flip up sights, foregrip (maybe with flaslight) and an EoTech or ACOG sight.

This will be my first AR build so just looking for some advice on whether I should pass on this and build off the RRA upper or not. :dunno:

Yup, it is a completed upper.

I do not have a lower. I wasn't really planning on starting my build till next summer.

Originally I was looking at Larue uppers, but decided for my skill level and usage that was over kill so I figured RRA was next down the list. Also a guy that I work with has a .308 RRA and loves it.

I just purchase a RRA AR-15 and I am really pleased with how it shoots. I have never fired the DPMS but I do not think the RRA would disappoint you. I have almost 500 rounds through it no jamming it shoots the cheap stuff just fine. Hope this helps
