I was shown a bill that said you had to create an electronic notice to the State Police for a private gun sale. Is this an active law or just a proposed one that may not have passed?

Ah, Vernon Smith of Gary, always doing his best to undermine our civil rights.

I get these questions every single week. Please understand that just because a bill is proposed does NOT make it law.

Remember Schoolhouse Rock, "I'm Just a Bill"? Similar process to that.

Even if there was such a law, it would be virtually unenforceable.

Some years back in Indiana they used to have a law similar to this regarding private handgun sales.

It was repealed at least in part because it was unenforceable.

They're actually available on DVD, too... I bought a copy in either 2008 or 2012, prior to the election, and recently bought an updated one (one new song, IIRC) for my grandson to grow up listening to.

    Win/win
