    Good kit and write up!

If one has a favorite backpack, you can slip in a IIIA soft armor panel into it and uparmor it as well. Works well with a bag that has a laptop sleeve it similar pocket, but you can can also throw it in against the back panel and they don’t take up much space.
Slipping in a soft armor panel is never going to be a bad idea, I just wanted something that'd stop a 308 sized round.

near Bedford on a whole lot of land.
That maine guide pack has caught my eye more than once.

Do you still have connections in the backpack making world? The reason I ask is because I have an idea of what I want for a rifle carrying backpack for events like Mammoth sniper challenge, but its not on the market, at least not how I'd want it.
Custom manufacturing is way more expensive than most people realize. I’d get people who would think that their great idea given to us free would allow us to split the profits. Ideas are cheap. Prototyping is what costs and eventually I stopped doing custom work except for minor modifications of our existing designs.

I can imagine. I would have figured a prototype would be 10x the cost of a production model.

I snapped a few pictures of my vehicle / ghb / edc bag. I had more junk in it than I remembered.

The smallest outer pocket I keep empty so I'd have room for trauma and spare mags. Second pocket holds all my misc stuff. Main compartment holds the cover/shelter and water bottle/filter.

Nice, thanks for sharing. Now, what’s the black circular object and the cordage by the knife? I’m stumped LOL

Good questions, the little black round thing is an Exotac xReel: https://www.exotac.com/products/xreel

I bought it for a recent trip in Alaska and I can't claim to have used it a whole lot, but I have used it and like it. The main attraction to it is the solid built compartment for tackle, and honestly I just kind of geek out on creative ideas like this that are built in the USA.

The green cordage is for a wazoo viking wetstone. https://wazoosurvivalgear.com/products/viking-whetstone I didn't care for the feel of the leather so I just swapped it out with 550 cord, stuck a small ferro rod on there with a ceramic striker as well. I really don't use this setup much and forgot it was even in there.

Everyday, carry my laptop and "supplies" into the office, is an old 5.11 covert 18, first gen. After many years of carrying it, the only physical wear-n-tear is some fraying around the carry handle.

My vehicle bag, which is the get home, or survive when we slide off the road and aren't found for a week bag, is a Mardingtop 25 liter tactical backpack. Fits plenty of gear. Haven't hiked with it to much yet. These are the last pictures I have of it. Have added some more items, a better poncho, a rain fly/tarp for shelter, more cordage.

    Great kit there Keith!

Thanks, finally went through and did an current inventory.

I think I mentioned above I'm putting together a supplemental bag with extra food, and I'll likely throw more medical items in that bag.

I also have a dry bag for a spare set of clothes that I can strap to the bottom of the backpack.

I'll probably add a couple pair of socks to the main bag. I'm also missing a 2 mil plastic drop cloth, had to use that to cover my Jeep windows after a breakdown on the highway (alternator/battery needed replaced, so windows were down.) Was thinking of replacing with several contractors trash bags for more versatility, could stuff to use as ground pad for sleeping, could cover windows for light discipline.

Also have a ziploc of dryer lint for tinder that I've got to prepare and include in the bag.

Yessss, weirdos who spend way too much on backpacks, my people

I have a Maxpedition Entity 27 that I picked up for bike commuting to my old job and regular EDC. It has trade-offs. The CCW compartment is quite good for a full size handgun, if a little slow. Good for toting a firearm when you're gonna park your butt in a chair all day. Lots of mesh pockets inside so you can see what's in them. Pretty much no external strappage, though, so I kept some paracord inside if I ever needed to lash a sweater or change of clothes to the outside. Water storage was likewise mediocre, the two external pockets could take small bottles but not if the main compartment was really packed. Keep some small tools in there, trauma kit, battery pack, odds and ends. I mostly keep the main compartment empty for clothing/lunch/etc.

Very comfortable on a bike. Very nonthreatening and good for city use. Build quality is solid compared to some other backpacks I've worn out. I'm happy with it for what I spent.
