A Memphis church was hosting a peaceful protest asking for the occupation in Afghanistan to finally end. They soon found themselves surrounded by high profile law enforcement; SWAT team & FBI anti-terrorism squads and black SUVs.

They of course justified their presence by claiming to be keeping the demonstrators safe. Why all the fanfare? FBI teams and SWAT don't come cheap. Maybe we employ too damn many of them. This wouldn't be to intimidate people from protesting the war would it?

I found it ironic that a guy named Godwin was defending the Police State in the article.

Memphis lawmen say high-profile visit to protest was to keep peace center peaceful

Right. The FBI doesn't show up unless somebody is under investigation. Additionally, they aren't generally known to be out rolling around making sure people are exercising their rights in a safe prudent manner.

Somebody from that church is going to be getting a target subpoena in the near future.

Probably some terrorist who likes to pay in cash and post on a survival forum. I think their terror watch list is 90/10, patriots to terrorists. They want us to believe that there are tens of thousands of "terror suspects" walking amongst us. I just don't buy it. This is what the War on Terror looks like. Free speech zones surrounded by guys in black armor.

and anyone with a badge telling us we live in the freest country on earth and that if we dont like it we should move to another country if we dont like america,,, other people telling us that why we would complain??? people have no right of privacy out in the open,,,so police can watch,,, other people telling us that having a speech without wanting police around is being a crazy anarchist,,,and that we have a mangled view of what freedom is...

Something smells. I tried googling them and the group is pretty tech savvy as they control page after page of google results. I do see that they are fans of Van Jones. But under the current junta that should make them friends of the current administration unless they are further out on the left. Those people are getting frustrated with the lack of leftward progress.

Here they are listed by some Anarchy group: Anarchist Neighborhood:Memphis - Infoshop OpenWiki

THis is interesting the event was actually run by the Memphis Socialist Party
    MEMPHIS SOCIALIST PARTY

    It is still puzzling.

The patriots were considered terrorists by the crown so maybe times haven't changed as much as we thought.
