This may come as news to some of you, but Genetically Modified (GM) foods are currently being approved by the FDA and are on your supermarket shelves.

I am against the FDA, but as long as it exists, it ought to actually do what it is supposed to do. Customers want to know if food is coming from genetically-modified organisms, and the FDA wants to protect the GMO food and keep these foods hidden on your grocery store shelves without labels.
FDA rules won't require labeling of genetically modified salmon

"Perhaps more surprising, conventional food makers say the FDA has made it difficult for them to boast that their products do not contain genetically modified ingredients."
There is disconcerting that the FDA has taken an obvious side protecting Genetically Modified food. Even scarier that they make it hard for natural food makers to advertise that they do not serve you GMO products. There is quite a bit of evidence that GM food is unhealthy and dangerous. At very least, consumers should be able to avoid it if they choose to.

The FDA exhibits one more reason why it has become irrelevant and contrary to the interests of consumers.

If you follow FDA guidelines, you will become sick and fat. The people in charge are all former execs from the food industry and as such looking out for the industry more than us. If you want to eat healthy/be healthy, do not look to them for sound advise.
