I found an old article from 1995, just after Ruby Ridge. Sen. Feinstein was not happy that certain controversial information could be found on the Internet:
"At another Senate hearing, Sen. Dianne Feinstein sparred with civil libertarians over whether the government should curb bomb-making instructions and hate messages sent over the Internet. "Feinstein, D-Calif., told civil libertarians and an official of America Online Inc., 'I think you're engaging in the promotion of an ultra-hazardous pursuit. ...I have a hard time with people using our First Amendment rights to teach others to go out and kill.''
I just thought there was some irony in there somewhere.
