Thanks, but were would this FAQ be located. Only one I seen seem to just cover topics about the site in genral.

The information you seek is right in front of you, in my sig line.

Or, if you click on the FAQ tab at the top, it's the very first link labelled:

    sgreen, you ARE joking, right?

Just in case you are not, please go back to Scutter's post and read it carefully.

[Never mind-- Scutter beat me to it :D ]

This is a site to recive information about gun related topics. I was unclear about were the Faq's were related to the topic I brought up ( thus the question was posed),This site is quite large. Some of us are not as computer literate as others. Had I been joking I would not have asked. I dont belive a new guy about to recive his LTCH would be joking as to were or were not to carry the firearm. So I dont really see were the short sided comments were warented. But thank you for the info I will be reading well into the night.

No, don't take it the wrong way, but I believe he was asking because not only did Scutter tell you to check the faq, but it's in big bold letters in his sig line, which you had to have seen since you read his post.

Sometimes the best way to hide something is in plain sight. Just kind of figured it would have been listed as a stand alone subject in the FAQ tab. Wont be bothering any one with unnecessary questions like that again but no big deal, live an learn.

doesn't require much computer literacy to use and people often DO joke about asking about how to find the FAQ after Scutter has posted.

is quite well organized. So, I really DID think you were joking. I just added the instructions back to Scutter's post to be helpful in case you were not.

Scutter, I'm not sure a blink tag would do it. You need to find a way to have your sig jump out of the post and smack people upside the head :D

Ok, I must admit it is hidden in plain site. A few days ago I was looking for forum rules and could not find them in the FAQ. Because I knew if I asked I would be told to look in the FAQ and treated like I was stupid, I kept my mouth shut and found a MOD's post, which I knew had a link in the sig lines to the rules. I'm sorry but I do think the FAQ headers are a little disceiving. The Official INGO FAQ (START HERE FIRST!!!) looks like a title not a link.

And I know there's been a lot of talk on the forum lately about thicker skins and people getting butt-hurt, but gee whizz, give a new guy a break, why jump all over someone just because they're not comprehending what you are telling them. A little politer tone would make us newbies feel a lot more welcome. That's my :twocents: for what it's worth.

I'm sorry if you have trouble finding the information and I'm open to suggestions on how to make it easier. Each mod has links in their signature, we have a FAQ tab with the INGO FAQ listed at the top in big letters that say "START HERE FIRST", and Fenway PM's each new registrant links to the site rules, classified rules, and INGO FAQ. You can lead a horse to water, as they say, but you can't make him drink. I don't see how we can make it better without driving to your house and personally reading it to you.

Would that only apply to new members or could we request a refresher course? Would we be allowed to choose which mod we wanted?

Should I post this in forum support and suggestions?

Yes, you can get a refresher. No, you can't choose. It will be VUPDBlue. He's the only one of us that can read.

If you don't mind that I do make a suggestion I think the FAQ button needs a little revision to look more like the MOD's sig line. Like I stated earlier the INGO FAQ (START HERE FIRST) looks more like a title than a link. Is there anyway to improve that? Either with it already expanded to show the subcatagories under it or the bring the subcatagories out as their own link. If you click on a MOD's sig line it takes you right to Pami's post with the FAQ. Like I said earlier, I knew the MOD's had the links in their sig line so it just took me a little while to find one of their post so I could find what I was looking for. By the way, I for one read all the FAQ that Fenway PMed me when I joined. I knew they were there just couldn't find them back.
Also, was the part in orange in your quote really a necessary part of your response?

Its no big deal, I just read everything now before I post this type of question. Just there is alot of info on this site(one of the reasons why I joined) sometimes hard to sift threw it all. But thanks for all the help, greatly appreciated.

It's a limitation to how vBulletin's FAQ system works. Just having it link to the INGO FAQ means we lose the link to the vBulletin FAQ. We don't really have a better way to link it at them moment without a significant rewrite of the software.
Also, was the part in orange in your quote really a necessary part of your response?

Yes, I think so. We've spent a lot of time building a comprehensive FAQ and bent over backwards trying to direct people to it and it's frustrating to have someone tell us that the work we've done isn't good enough and that we're arrogant for trying to get that information out there. We've made it as easy to find as we know how and the information is flat-out ignored.
