First Evil Black Rifle build (with pics)

Here is my first build, well it's also my first AR as well.

Started out with a stripped lower from Surplus Arms. Thanks to the folks down at Orion Firearms.

Then added a Geissele SSA-E trigger:

Didn't get pictures of each part going on to the lower, mainly because I was pretty excited about putting it together. That and I had a couple issues, but the good news is I found my bolt catch spring, but not the pivot pin detent.
Anyway, picked up a YHM upper with a low profile gas block, 16" barrel, and a Rifle Length Smooth forearm, at the 1500.

And thanks to a couple of really good friends I got a MBUS front sight and a Matech rear flip up (which has seen battle in Afghanistan):

Oh, and I put a Magpul MIAD grip on. I am not crazy about the buttstock, but it came with the parts kit I picked up and will do for now. I grabbed a CAA stock saddle to put on it, but need to find a matching screw.

All in all it went together pretty easily. I can not wait to get out and sight it in and see how she shoots. I think for the other stripped lower I have I am going to go all out and build the upper as well. Doesn't seem as daunting of a task after putting this one together.

I keep seeing everyone's builds, and it is making me nasty. I did not build my AR, but I am beginning to think I want to start assembling one. Thinking its not that difficult...

It really is easier than you would think. Between INGO and AR15.com, there is a ton of info out there with tips and tricks on how to put everything together. Pretty much if you can think it, someone else has probably done it and put a "how to" up on the internet.

It all YHM up there. That is YHM's "Smooth" line of forearms, I like it because you can add rails where you want to, rather than the standard quad rail, and it still leave a smooth hand hold.

Nice man! I'm building an Ar pistol right now. I think I'm going with a YHM free float quadrail on my RRA upper. YHM makes good stuff!

Yeah I did. It's my first AR I've owned, but not the first one I have shot. I have a Geissele S3G trigger for my other lower I have.
