thanks for the motivational words dusty. ive been shooting uspsa for years. my "thinking about it" was cause i just know i'm gonna do one of those moving mag changes and other stuff i'm not supposed to do:D.

There are probably more struggles in moving from USPSA to IDPA with the rules differences, but like somebody once said "If IDPA were more like USPSA then it would BE USPSA." :D The worst you'll have happen is a few procedural penalties :)

NO! It's not all right!! Because after watching the first 5 minutes of the first shooters first course of fire you'll be kicking yourself for not signing up! Bring your gear, or as much of it as you have, and just shoot it!:D

+1! This is absolutley correct! BRING YOUR STUFF!

I also suggest the RSO course once you get your feet wet. It will make you safer and give you a better understanding of everything from safety to scoring.

Just keep in mind that shooting a match is just practice with witnesses. O.K. maybe you don't practice this kind of shooting. Well you should and after your first match you will.
Punching holes in paper is all it is. Go slow be safe and don't worry about anything but being safe, accurate and having a good time. If coming in last was the deciding factor none of us would have come back for the second try.

My first match is also tomorrow. I'm completely excited, and nearly giddy, about it. The gentleman that got me into it will be filming the event on an iPhone, or iPod, or something. I've been practicing quick draw and blind reloading every night since I bought my glock. :D My wife is half crazed with the sound of slide release and racking.

Shot in my first match this morning at ACC. Had a great time and learned a lot.

Mostly what I learned in no particular order:
-You must reload from behind cover or it's a procedural penalty
-Shooting IDPA is a really good time
-All of the other people shooting were a great group
-You must reload from behind cover or it's a procedural penalty
-I'm not as good a shot as I thought I was
    -I need lots of practice
-I will definitely do this again. I had a great time
-You must reload from behind cover or it's a procedural penalty

All in all, it was great experience. My thanks to ACC and all of the ROs that did an outstanding job. This newbie appreciated your efforts and patience.

GREAT! Where did you end up shooting? Sounds like you might want to remind yourself that you need to shoot from behind cover, it is a procedural penalty you know. :D

That was very much like my first time shooting IDPA and I loved it!
