My head hurts trying to figure out an inexpensive way to keep a water tank free of gook (growth).

I am redoing the watering system for my rabbits. Running water via a fish pond pump. The tank is already getting icky after a week.

A filter or clarifier should help - especially as I create a couple hundred gallon tank for the system.

A UV light clarifier could help but I can’t tell how long a bulb will last.

What suggestions do you have to filter the water without breaking the bank?

Back when I was more into it 6 months to a year on uv. It will still glow but won't be effective.

In hvac, uv lasts about 2 years-or atleast thats what the claims are on what we install.

When I had a small fish pond, figured it was 2k gallons, I used a rectangular flower pot and filter media and that mesh garden fencing. Pump sat inside and had to suck the water through. Worked pretty good.
