My nephew will be finishing up his time on a boomer sub this fall and will be "moved" (whatever the Navy calls it) to BUDS. He's a knife freak so I'd like to get him something to celebrate moving into BUDS. I need some gift ideas - manufacturer, type, etc.
He may all ready have it but I bought my nephew a large set of several sharpening stones from coarse to extra fine from www.sharpeningsupplies.com. He might get longer and better use out of this than a knife.
I was thinking under $200. And I love the idea of sharpening stones! Now to find out if he has those already, which will be a trick since he's out to sea
its a little more than your budget, but they say it will open under 60 feet of water, im not sure of that, as i've nevber opened mine under water, but it has a hullofa kick when it opens!
Probably a weird suggestion, but you might check out the Spyderco Warrior. It's a combat knife that has a really cool history, and made out of rust proof materials (Ti hardware, FRN handles, and H1 steel). I really love mine, and bet it would be a hit. They're kind of expensive, but you can find them for around $200 if you shop around the web. Spyderco Warrior
