    I have seen the crappy new finish on American and Austrian Glocks so his justification for backing out of the deal seems baseless, unless he really thought that the crappy new finish is restricted to the domestic Glocks. Either way, if that was important to him, he should have clarified it before the deal was reached.

    For what it may be worth, I have managed to rust the old finish.

    I've had gen 4 19s of USA and Austrian flavors. The slide finish on the USA pistol was better, hands-down. The buyer's prejudice means he turned down a better gen 4 pistol. Check Bud's, the USA cost more and they're worth the extra cash.
