I have a glock 29 and love it.

But if you don't like black plastic hand grenades the sig may be more to you liking. They are Purty :)

Like I said its just a personal preference. I own a few sigs and just prefer them personally. I have been looking for a 45 carry gun myself and was considering a 220. Nothing wrong with Glocks though. They are both high quality guns and it just comes down to what feels good in your hand.

No experience with the Sig. Love my G30, my primary carry for close to a year now. Alot of my friends who have shot it don't like the thick grip, but fits me very well.

Owned a Glock 30 2x4. No more. Still have a Glock 36 as the summertime carry. Sig 228 is the winter. ;) Glocks are great for carry and reliable. My 226 and 228s feel more like sports cars though.

If i was going to walk for a night, I would take a Sig and know I perform better with them. If I was going to walk for a few months, I would take a Glock and feel it would hold up better. An HK45C may replace the Glock 36 at some point but not yet. A Glock 17 with a rail light is the bedside gun but my 226 is my favorite, easiest gun to shoot.

I have owned and shot both extensively and prefer the Glock 30 SF by a very wide margin.

It's smaller, lighter, has a greater payload, and less felt recoil to me (less flippy).

If it fits your hand it's the way to go, imho.

What kind of Sig 220 you looking to get? There are 3 different kinds:Full(4.4" 8+1), Carry(3.9" 8+1), or Compact(3.9" 6+1). As far as the G30 having a greater payload, if you need more then 9 shots from your 45 you have a bigger problem to deal with.

I think it comes down to a matter of preference. Meaning, do you like striker fired handguns, or do you like a SA/DA setup? Do you like polymer or steel? As far a quality goes, both are superb. Some would say that the Glock 30 is too bulky, so if that's an issue, you could always go with the 30 SF, or even a 36 if you don't mind the 7 round cap (6 + 1).

Riiiiight, 9 (8+1) rounds of the almighty 45 is enough for any situation.

    Except when it isn't.

Hmm. Let's see. The latest example posted on INGO:

    https://www.indianagunowners.com/fo...se/234229-14_45acp_slugs_and_still_going.html

Comparing handguns of equal height, the G30 can carry 13+1 to the P220s 8+1 (i.e. 40% more).

Greater capacity is an objective advantage of one design over the other. "But you'll never need it," is just wishful thinking. If it fits, why not to carry more in a smaller, lighter weight package?

For the record Sig doesn't make 9rd mags, so I don't know where that imaginary magazine came from:n00b: They do make a 10rd, 8rd, and 7rd mag. I had a G30 along with a 220 SAS and 220 compact. Both Sigs were more accurate. They were heavier though obviously, but nothing that wasn't solved with a good holster/belt combo. As far as having more capacity is "better" is just a flawed statement. It doesn't really matter if you can't hit anything with it. Shot placement is what counts.

Have owned 5 SIGs over the years, in addition to all the Glocks (and Smiths, etc.).

None were significantly more accurate to the point where it would make any practical difference in a defensive context.

Is the OP looking primarily for a defensive or competitive target shooting handgun?

I shoot my 220ST better than any gun(including Glocks) I've ever owned. Sold G17, G19, G23 & G32. Not a fair comparison really, a solid stainless framed gun vs. a polymer frame. My non-stainless sigs are much closer to the glocks in accuracy and fall to personal preference.

The same fallacious statement could be made about a revolver. Of course, if you happen to NEED more available shots than that 9 rounder (say, if you have 10 opponents) . . .

Ive owned both and as a matter of fact I bought a G30 after already owning a Sig 220 SS Full size. The sig had the best trigger I have ever felt on a handgun. It would be a great carry gun on open carry. I sold the Sig after I bought my G30 because I hardly ever shot the Sig after i got the G30. The Sig was very heavy (SS) and large frame (think Ruger P series).
A G30 will accept G21 10rd mags. For Concealed Carry the GLock 30 hands down!

If you were considering a metal framed Sig I would vote for that buuuttttt, all the polymer framed Sig's I have played with have had crappy triggers. Sooooo I gotta go with Glock.

My Sig 229 SAS is way better than my Glock.

I'm hoping the 10 opponents thing is sarcasm. If you are planning on going toe to toe with 10 opponents dedicated enough to not suffer a morale breakdown and flee with a 90% reduction in force AND they are so on you that you can't reload you're hosed if you have 6 rounds or 18.

Probably need to consider belt fed and calling in close air support at that point.:twocents:

I've owned/carried/shot my G30 for close to 2 years now and absolutely love it... I don't have experience with the 220 but have owned its little brother (226)... The Sig does have a crisper trigger pull than the Glock but for my personal needs... The G30 does everything I need it to do... All about personal preference ie. feel in your hands, comfortability while carrying (oc/cc), accuracy while shooting and most of all, which would you trust your life/your family's life with while having either... :twocents:
