Other than the name, what makes this .380 different/better than any number of .380s already on the market?

Glock will sell a bunch, but they could stamp the Glock name on a black rock and sell a bunch....and people would praise the reliability.

They will be on display next week in Las Vegas at the Shot Show. I plan to check them out as I have been complaining to Glock for several years for a small frame 380/9mm

Because a lot of the .380s on the market right now are junk that is built to meet a market. I don't know if tgr G42 is better or not, have not seen one. But if it is reliable and well built then it has a place.

Maybe I missed it, but how does the G42 compare to the kahr P380 or CW380?

I can't say. Never compared them. The P380 is pretty small and quality seems good. It carries with it a bit of a price tag. When I refer to .380s built to a price point, I am referring to the TCPs, KelTec, LCP and others that are all the rage right now. I would hope that the Glock is a step up from those. Yes the Glock is larger but with that comes a more shootable package.

I'm curious as to whether there might be another couple millimeters of length in the magwell and chamber area...."A 9mm the size of a .380"! I can see the ads now.

Massad had a video showing the G42. He described it as having a thinner grip. So the distance to the trigger was shorter. He reported low recoil and good reliability. So I don't known if the frame is big enough for 9mm.

The .380's that I have held, I didn't like the size of the grip. I couldn't imagine trying to use those guns as a "shooting" gun like my G19 and G26 is.

Maybe the G42 was made that size to be a .380 "shooting" gun?

That I'd what I am hoping. If so it can compete head yo head with the PK380, LC380, PPK/s, Bersa Thunder, Sig P232 and the like. Big advantage is the G42 will weigh a lot less. I believe it is also locked breach action as opposed to the blowback action of some of the others.

You know the best part of a G42?

Glock FINALLY produced a gun that might fight well in that chintzy "perfect" plastic case!

Sadly it is quite a bit larger, kind of like Vert was saying with it competing with the LC380 or Bersa Thunder sized pistols, if you want more grip it will be a good thing for you though. If you're going to go that big though it's kind of like why not 9mm? Those are just my thoughts though.
