I just picked up my new Sccy CPX-1(gen2) last night. First-off, I know it's a cheap pistol & many here will say that I could've done a lot better. Having conceded that point, I was wondering if anyone who has owned a 2nd gen CPX has any tips or tricks that I can apply to mine? I'm hoping to get out to the BGF range this weekend and test it out.

congrats and welcome the community. Your new piece is the first of MANY gun purchases in your near future. My BIL had a sccy and it operated just fine. He had trouble getting the last round (10th if memory serves) in the mag. It was a cool, affordable, concealable entry level shooter. Don't let some of the gun snobs on here make you feel bad about your gun.

If you make it to the range this weekend, be sure to start a range report and add some gun porn.

    Is it pronounced "sissy"?

    Never heard of them yet.

They have been around since the mid 2000s if not sooner. I had one, still wish I did. It is pronounced "sky", their name used to be Skyy, but if you are a vodka drinker like myself you will know why there was a name change.

Thanks...I did notice that it is decidedly difficult to get the last 2 or 3 rounds into the magazine...I'm hoping they loosen up in time. I purchased it mainly for concealed carry, but hope it will be some fun at the range as well.

Well, I got to the range(Indy trading post) this weekend. There was good & bad..... I tried a couple mags of Federal brass, then a couple of Tula steel-cased, and a couple of MFS steel-cased(zinc-plated). The CPX did fine for the first few magazines and then "disaster" struck. I had gone part-way through a magazine of the MFS and I got a FTE. I dropped the magazine, and tried to rack the slide but it was stuck and wouldn't go back. I was kind of done at that point. When I got home I verified(with a flashlight & mirror) that it was an empty casing that was jammed part-way into the barrel(which caused the barrel not to be able to pivot down and allow the slide to pass over it). I gently maneuvered a slim, flat-blade screwdriver down the barrel & into the open casing and gave the screwdriver handle a shove with the palm of my hand. It then ejected the casing. It looks to me as if I may have been too liberal with the Remoil when I cleaned the gun prior to firing & a lot of buildup was attracted to the chamber opening, causing the FTE situation. Even though I am thinking this was the real problem I think that I will steer clear of the steel-cased stuff in my CPX form now on! My Hi-point C9 ate everything I fed into it without a hitch...just wish it was lighter, smaller, & less bulky(there's no way I could carry it concealed)!!

I have one of the first generation Skky's and didn't have any problems with the pistol. If you are having issues with the pistol then it's time to call Sccy to get it fixed. Great customer service every time I called for information and they shipped me the updated parts for free. :rockwoot:

Yeah, I heard that their CS is really good too. I think my excess oil was the real culprit, but I will definitely give them a call if my next range visit doesn't go well....hoping to go to BGF this coming weekend. I really WANT to love this gun!:)

Lol...I was actually thinking of that video when my sccy's jam happened & I was trying to clear it. That guy would have been SOL with the whole "rack" portion of his philosophy since the slide wouldn't rack!

First off, welcome to the forum and congratulations. They are certainly interesting looking pistols. Their appearance reminds me of Keltecs.

Make sure you take it apart and give it a good cleaning before taking it out to the range. Try and put a decent amount of lube on the moving parts. Guns have a "break in" period much like car engines do, so any lubricant helps ease it through that period. Generally speaking, I think a good 3-400 rounds is decent. I wouldn't fret if it jams once or twice in that round count. I've found compacts to be the most finicky.

Not to insult your intelligence, but make sure you've gotten a decent amount of rounds through the pipe without jamming before carrying it. Sort of like a woman, you want one that feels good in the hand, decent in size, and (most importantly): FAITHFUL when you need her to be. If you want to be safe, run a few boxes of Winchester white box through. It is an ok benchmark ammo.

Best of luck with your new pistol. I'm sure you'll love it.

Welcome to the club. I got a SCCY CPX 2 a month ago and I am very satisfied with it. About 200 rounds so far, no issues at all. The mags are a bit stiff. The SCCY forum says to keep them loaded for about a week, reload a few times during the week and they will loosen up. I tried it and it worked.

Also there service is great. Call them and they will gladly help you with your FTE problems.

Just make sure you don't drop it on a hard surface:o cracked the edge of my frame!!! SCCY took care of it promptly. No questions asked and their lifetime warranty stays with the GUN not the original owner

Now THAT'S the kind of customer service I can get behind! I read on the Sccy forum that there is an updated guide rod assembly(mine has a brass washer...new one's delrin). Mine isn't causing a problem but I contacted CS via email to inquire about it & they are sending me one out free. Can't beat that!!:D

I just bought the CPX-2 this evening. Can't wait to get it out to the range and see how it does. No worries, I'll bring back pics :)
